About Us
I am a Penticton-based photographer. The Okanagan Valley is a unique area photographically and geographically, as the area features pocket deserts, orchards, beaches, big lakes, wineries, and offers amazing recreational opportunities.
The Okanagan Valley and Penticton have been home since 1992. For the past decade my wife Marlene and I have been foster parents. We specialize in working with children and families with special needs. Fostering has been a family experience and we are pleased that our teen-aged sons have grown through the experience to become champions for diversity and people with disabilities.
I have been a photographer and computer geek for since the early 1980's. My formal training in photography included courses in art history and photography at the University of Calgary. I started out with black and white photography and made the switch to digital 5 years ago. Panorama photography is my new passion, it is an emerging art form, with photographers working to share dynamic images from all over the earth. Panorama images are created by means of new technologies: advances in digital cameras, lenses, photographic equipment, computers and imaging software, and the connectivity of the Internet make today's spherical panoramas possible.
One development we are exploring is the use ofr "geotagged"
photographs. Geotagged photos are useful because in addition to time and date being recorded on the digital image, geographic data (latitude, longitude, altitude, and direction) can now be recorded into the EXIF file of the image as the camera captures the photo. Images with time and place data are especially useful to businesses such as hospitality or real estate, as they allow web visitors to quickly find the location where the photo was taken.
